COMING TO UGANDA
Did you know that Uganda is on the CNN “must visit list” for 2023
So, let’s get you all prepared for your trip to the Pearl of Africa
YOUR PASSPORT
First and foremost, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your
intended stay in Uganda. If you are a visitor to Uganda, it is a requirement to hold a
return ticket as well as holding sufficient funds for the duration of your stay in the country.
ENTRY VISA FOR UGANDA
Just as importantly, it is no longer possible to get a visa on arrival at the Entebbe
International Airport. You must obtain your e-visa in advance of travel, and you must
also carry a printed copy of the e-visa. The official website for submitting your
application for an e-visa is https://visas.immigration.go.ug/. We urge you to allow
plenty of time for your application to be processed and approved. Don’t leave it to
the last minute. The official website can be temperamental, so be patient with it!
(Note: if you hold an Irish Passport, you do not need a visa to enter Uganda)
COVID-19
Thankfully the pandemic seems to be behind us now. It is, therefore, no longer a
requirement to hold a negative PCR test certificate to enter or leave Uganda. If you do
hold a valid Covid Vaccination Certificate we would recommend that you carry this with
you when travelling
YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION CERTIFICATE
However, it is a requirement to hold a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate to enter
Uganda. You may be asked to present this to the airline at check-in and/or on arrival to
health officials at Entebbe Airport
BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE
Airlines apply various checked-in baggage allowances. The fare that you have paid
will determine your free check-in baggage allowance. Verify this before getting to the
airport so you avoid paying excess baggage charges. Your baggage allowance will be
shown on your e-ticket. Airlines also restrict the amount of baggage that you can carry
on to the aircraft. Again, check this before getting to the airport.
DEPARTURE FROM ENTEBBE
Allow yourself plenty of time to clear security, check-in and immigration formalities when
departing from Entebbe International Airport. We recommend that you get to the airport
a minimum of 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight. The airport
can get busy in the evenings as there are many late-night international departures
