Uganda is a country full of joy and adventure. Traditionally known for being a safari destination, over time white water rafting and kayaking on the Nile have helped promote Jinja as “the adventure capital of East Africa.”
The Rwenzori Mountains have two main trekking routes: join Rwenzori Trekking Services for the 5-day Kilembe Trail, or hike with Rwenzori Mountaineering Services to complete the 6-day Central Circuit. Both routes offer detours to the many spectacular peaks including Uganda’s highest mountain Margherita Peak (5109m). Shorter treks are also possible. With 50 lakes, a series of waterfalls and funky vegetation that would not look out of place on a sci-fi film set, the Rwenzoris has plenty to offer adventurous hikers!
