Hello, Eye Readers!

As I sit down to write this, it is raining “cats and dogs”. I am in Bwindi and the people of this tiny trading center have taken shelter under the rooftops of the nearest place they can find, until the rain stops. The air is cool and crisp and it warrants a light jacket … but for me, it is a welcome relief from the dry dusty streets from where I came from.

“Keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you” – Walt Whitman

The weather got me thinking about all the places in Uganda one could visit with a similar climate — but actually, everywhere you go in Uganda has unpredictable rainstorms. So, when you travel around the country, it is always a good idea to go prepared and to pack clothes that are suitable for all types of weather. Uganda really is a wonderfully diverse and spectacular place to visit

Travel well – – Travel Safely – Enjoy the read!

About the Photo

This chimpanzee is from Kyambura Game Reserve. I love the similarity that you can find with humans in the characteristics of Chimps. There is so much emotion showed in their faces, just like in this image of the chimp grinning.

DID YOU KNOW: “The chimpanzee is a great ape known for being the closest living relative of humans. They share approximately 99% of our genes and it is believed we share a common ancestor that lived seven to 13 million years ago”

About the Photographer

Gabriel Jones grew up in Laikipia, Kenya but he spent the first year of his life in Fort Portal. A keen birder, fisherman and photographer, Gabriel belongs in the bush not behind a desk. So, it was only natural that he would return to Uganda all these years later working in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Gabriel spent most of his adult life in the bush doing his guide training in South Africa and working in the Masai Mara. His foray into photography came from a love of birding and capturing unique and endemic species across Africa
